Sangareddy: Several residents of Thogarpally in Kondapur mandal were stranded on the other side of an overflowing lake for the last two days, unable to cross over due to heavy inflows. With the lake continuing to swell, villagers were cut off until Saturday, facing severe hardships. Power supply was disrupted and they could not access groceries, as the kacha road downstream was impassable. Responding to their pleas, officials arranged a boat to help the stranded villagers cross the lake. About 45 residents were shifted to temporary shelters. The villagers said they had been unable to eat properly for the past week, as they could not buy groceries. They appealed to the government to construct permanent houses within the village to prevent recurrence of such situations.
