After scoring a 5-star crash safety rating at Bharat NCAP, the Maruti Suzuki Victoris SUV has now hit the highest crash safety score in the Global NCAP tests as well. This is the first time that a new product has been evaluated under both NCAP standards before being launched and sets the stage for the Victories to be called the safest Maruti Suzuki till date. Here’s a quick comparison of what the Bharat NCAP and Global NCAP crash safety reports had to say about the Victoris. 1. Victoris Bharat NCAP Crash Safety Report Highlights: Under the Bharat NCAP regulations, the Victoris scored 31.66 out of 32.00 in terms of adult safety and 43.00 out of 49.00 in child safety parameters. The ratings applied across all variants and of the Victoris, including the petrol, CNG and strong hybrid models. The report further mentioned that the Victoris showed ‘adequate’ protection to the driver’s side during the ‘frontal offset deformable barrier test’. Apart from that, all other passenger parameters showed a ‘Good’ level of protection. 2. Latest Global NCAP Crash Safety Report On Victoris: In the latest Global NCAP crash safety report, we get to see a more detailed evaluation of the Victoris SUV’s safety parameters. While the report scored the Victoris at 33.72 out of 34.00 for adult safety and 41.00 out of 49.00 in child safety, other observations paint a more detailed picture of the SUV’s safety. Global NCAP has stated that the Bodyshell Integrity (frontal) for the Victoris is ‘stable’. The structural and footwell areas were also rated as stable, all body regions for adults and 18-month-old to 3-year-old child dummies showed full protection. Side impact and pole test showed full head protection and that the standard equipment ESC fulfills the agency’s requirements. While the new-generation Maruti Suzuki Dzire has also scored 5-star ratings between the two NCAP agencies, the Victoris takes it a step further by offering Level 2 ADAS safety as a first for Maruti Suzuki and also 6 airbags as standard. The nod of approval from the crash test results certainly makes things harder for the SUV’s South Korean rivals, who currently lead the segment.
