Victoria Beckham

The Spice Girl-turned-fashion designer gives us the inside perspective on her life

Certificate: 15

‘People thought I was that miserable cow that never smiled. But I do.’ The legacy of being Posh in the Spice Girls has cast a long shadow over the public persona of Victoria Beckham. It’s something she finally wants to shed in a shiny three-part documentary that deals with being the uncool kid at school who wanted to be liked, the sudden end of the Spice Girls and, most prominently, her fashion business – something that involved the family going ‘millions in the red’.

Victoria is visibly emotional when she comes to talk about the struggle of all that and, as in the documentary about her husband David (the slightly more pointed Beckham), there are some disarming moments of the banter between the two of them, most amusingly about her ability (or inability) to make a cheese sandwich.

Interviewees include the fashion titans Roland Mouret, Tom Ford and Anna Wintour, along with Victoria’s chic friend Eva Longoria (who also has her own fashion business) and, of course, David, who is seen reflecting while Victoria prepares for a big fashion show, ‘Is this what you felt like when you came to watch me play football?’ (Three episodes)
