Galatasaray are sweating over the fitness of star striker Victor Osimhen ahead of their UEFA Champions League opener against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Turkish giants Galatasaray have reportedly received a significant boost ahead of their Champions League opener this week, as star forward Victor Osimhen faces a late fitness test.
The 26-year-old picked up an injury in Nigeria’s 1-0 win against Rwanda and returned to Turkey, missing the Super Eagles’ subsequent 1-1 draw with South Africa.
Osimhen also missed Galatasaray’s weekend victory over Eyüpspor as he continued his recovery.
Osimhen to play for Galatasaray against Frankfurt?
Now, according to Turkish news outlet Harbeler, the Nigerian, who is not yet fully recovered, is prepared to make personal sacrifices to feature in the Champions League match against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Despite missing Monday’s training session, other reports suggest the striker will be part of the squad for Thursday’s clash.
Osimhen, who scored an impressive 37 goals in 41 appearances for Galatasaray last season, is clearly the team’s primary source of goals, particularly in the most crucial games.
Should he be passed fit, his presence would be a massive boost for manager Okan Buruk, who will be desperate to start the new UEFA Champions League campaign with a victory.
