The two victims who died in the terror attack at a north Manchester synagogue last week have now been formally identified, police have confirmed. The funeral for Adrian Daulby, 53, was held on Monday (October 6), a day after hundreds gathered in Pendlebury to pay their respects to fellow victim, dad-of-three Melvin Cravitz, who died aged 66. Both men were killed following a terror attack by Jihad Al-Shamie , outside the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation synagogue on October 2. Greater Manchester Police said that formal identification processes had been carried out last Friday (October 3) and that the identities of the two men who lost their lives were confirmed as Mr Adrian Jonathan Daulby and Mr Melvin Lesley Cravitz. It allowed Mr Daulby and Mr Cravitz to be released following the end of the Jewish Sabbath and allow their families to lay them to rest in accordance with their traditions and faith, police said. The statement added: “Coronial proceedings will be opened by HM Coroner Mr Golombeck at a later date, with details to be shared firstly with the families of those who died, followed by the wider community as soon as we are able to do so. “Greater Manchester Police and the HM Coroner’s Office, together with Counter Terrorism Police North West and the Independent Office for Police Conduct are grateful for the patience and support received from the Jewish community at this difficult time.” Greater Manchester Police also confirmed on Sunday that warrants for further detention were granted for four individuals who had been arrested on suspicion of commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism in connection with the incident. The suspects can be held custody for up to a further five days from the point that warrant was granted. Two others, a man and a woman, were released without charge after being arrested last Thursday. The police watchdog is continuing to examine the use of lethal force by GMP firearms officers. — Day in day out, our reporters in the Manchester Evening News newsroom bring you remarkable stories from all aspects of Mancunian life.
