Scott McDaniel, 53, was found lying on the roadway near the 3600 block of West Roosevelt Road about 8:10 p.m. on Oct. 15, appearing to have been struck by a vehicle, the release says. McDaniel was unresponsive and transported to a hospital with critical injuries, the release says. Shortly afterward, with assistance from the Real-Time Crime Center, a system where business owners and private entities can integrate their cameras to help police tackle crime, police located the suspect vehicle and arrested Deshawn Cheatham, 34, of Little Rock, the release says. On Tuesday, doctors told police that McDaniel had died from his injuries just after midnight, the report says. Cheatham, who faces a charge of leaving scene of accident involving injury or death, was being held in the Pulaski County jail on Tuesdsay on a $200,000 bond, according to online records. His charges could be upgraded pending a comprehensive review, the release says.
