Shah had been dealing with kidney issues and had recently had a transplant. Satish Shah dies at 74 Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit confirmed the news and said, “With a heavy heart, I want to say that our friend and talented actor, Satish Shah, died around 2:30 PM today due to kidney failure. His health worsened while he was at home, and he was taken to the hospital immediately. Sadly, he couldn’t survive. His cremation will take place today. It’s a significant loss for the industry. I have worked with him on many projects.” Pandit also posted on Instagram, “Sad and shocked to inform you that our dear friend and great actor Satish Shah has passed away a few hours ago due to kidney failure. He was rushed to Hinduja Hospital, where he took his last breath. A great loss to our industry. Om Shanti.” A Versatile Icon of Indian Cinema The career of Satish Shah spanned over four decades and saw him become a household name. He gained cult fame with his role in the 1983 satirical film ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’, where he skillfully played multiple characters. His work also included films like ‘Hum Saath-Saath Hain’, ‘Main Hoon Na’, ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’, ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’, ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, and ‘Om Shanti Om’, showcasing his versatility across genres. His manager confirmed that Shah’s body is still at Hinduja Hospital, with funeral services planned for Sunday. His passing signifies the loss of a cherished figure in Indian entertainment, remembered for his comic timing and varied performances.
