Veteran Bulldog earns extension

Treloar had a wretched run with injury this year following his 2024 All-Australian nod and was forced to prove his fitness over the last month with Footscray.

The line breaker has played a crucial role in the Bulldogs advancing through to this weekend’s grand final and in turn has earnt a one-year extension.

Treloar, who played in the Doggies’ 2021 grand final defeat, says he has “unfinished business” at The Kennel.

“I am super grateful to re-sign, there is nowhere else I’d rather be. The minute I walked into the footy club I felt loved and embraced,” he said.

“It feels like I have been here a lot longer than the five years and there is a lot of unfinished business from a personal and team perspective.

“It hasn’t been the year I have wanted individually, but hopefully I can be a part of a very successful team in 2026.

“I’ll always be someone that relishes the chance to represent the football club and to do that this week for Footscray in a grand final is exciting.

“We’re going into this week really wanting to win the game, and to be able to lift any silverware for the football club would be a great honour.”

Footscray takes on Southport in Sunday’s VFL grand final at Carlton’s home base, Ikon Park.
