EXCLUSIVE: Vernon Davis is entering the podcast game with The Next Role with Vernon Davis, a weekly series that will see the former NFL star turned actor and filmmaker interview sports stars and celebrities about their career transitions and reinventions.
The series will look into the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual process of reinvention with guests sharing their stories, fears, and what it takes to keep evolving at the highest level.
The podcast’s debut episode will premiere on Thursday, October 2 with three-time Pro Bowler and 2026 Pro Football Hall of Fame nominee Delanie Walker as its first guest.
Future guests will include three-time Emmy Award-winning actor Keith David, comedian and actor Rickey Smiley, producer, author, and motivational speaker DeVon Franklin, comedian and “Roastmaster General” Jeff Ross, actor Danny Trejo, NFL legend and Pro Football Hall of Famer Jerry Rice, and model, actress and entrepreneur Eugena Washington.
The show will be distributed, marketed, and monetized through the Cumulus Podcast Network under its Westwood One portfolio. It is executive-produced by Davis under his Reel 85 Productions banner, alongside Emmy-nominated filmmaker Joslyn Rose Lyons and Henry Penzi, with DeShon Hardy serving as producer.
Since retiring from the NFL in 2020, former Pro Bowler and Superbowl winner Davis has reinvented himself as an actor and producer, with a growing list of film and TV credits. He has also founded two production firms, Reel 85 and Between the Linez Productions.
