Veena Kumari Dermal takes charge as new Chief Post Master General of Telangana Circle

Veena Kumari Dermal has assumed charge as the Chief Postmaster General, Telangana Circle. An 1998 batch officer of the Indian Postal Service (IpoS), Dr. Veena brings over 27 years of distinguished service across administration, technology deployment, policy reforms and international engagement. She has successfully combined high-level policy-making with field level execution working in various capacities across the Governmental framework.

As Deputy Director General (PMU), Department of Posts (2024-2025), she led the nationwide deployment of Advanced Postal Technology (APT) 2.0, covering over 1.5 lakh post offices. This landmark initiative marked a shift of Post Office IT system from a monolithic architecture to a modern, micro services-based agile architecture, enabling faster, more flexible service delivery.

Her leadership was instrumental in aligning the postal network with the Government of India’s flagship initiatives—Digital India, Make in India, and the goal of providing anywhere-anytime services to citizens.

In her career in the Department of Posts and she had worked as Postmaster General (Central Region, Tamil Nadu); Director (PMU-II), Dak Bhawan, New Delhi; Director, Postal Training Centre, Mysuru and Director Postal Services (Dharwad Region). She is an alumni of Indian Agriculture Research Institute, New Delhi, Kerala Agricultural University and Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.

With her expertise in technology transformation, policy reforms, HR development, and postal administration, Ms. Dermal is set to lead the Telangana Postal Circle into a new phase of modernization and citizen-centric service delivery.

She also had a stint as Director and later as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Mines (2021-2024) and was a board member of various PSUs like NALCO, Hindustan Zinc, KABIL as government nominee director.
