The first look poster of the much-anticipated Malayalam action survival thriller Varavu, directed by Shaji Kailas, has been released, coinciding with the birthday of lead actor Joju George. The poster features Joju George delivering an intense glare through a shattered jeep windshield, accompanied by the tagline “Game of Survival.” The imagery hints at the film’s action-packed narrative and signals a gripping cinematic experience. The narrative promises to blend the region’s cultural backdrop with high-stakes action sequences. The first look is expected to showcase what fans call the signature “Joju magic.” Joining Joju George in the action sequences is Malayalam actress Vani Vishwanath, who brings additional intensity to the film’s thrilling moments. The film also marks the first collaboration between Joju George and director Shaji Kailas. The ensemble cast includes veteran actress Sukanya, along with Murali Gopi, Arjun Ashokan, Babu Raj, Vinci Aloysius, Saniya Iyyappan, Ashwin Kumar, Abhimanyu Shammi Tilakan, Biju Pappan, Bobby Kuryan, Azeez Nedumangad, Sreejith Ravi, Deepak Parambol, Kottayam Ramesh, Balaji Sharma, Chali Pala, and Radhika Radhakrishnan in pivotal roles. The screenplay has been penned by A.K. Sajan, known for films such as Chinthamani Kolacase, Red Chillies, and Drona. Cinematography is handled by S. Saravanan, while editing is by Shameer Mohammed. Art direction is by Sabu Ram, with Saji Kattakada overseeing makeup and Sameer Sanish designing the costumes. Produced under the banner of Olga Productions, the film is spearheaded by producers Reji Prothasis and Nicey Reji, with Jomy Joseph serving as co-producer. The action sequences have been choreographed by some of South India’s leading stunt experts, including Anup Arivu, Stunt Silva, Kai Kingston, Jacky Johnson, Phoenix Prabhu, and Kanal Kannan. Filming is currently underway across scenic locations in Munnar, Marayur, Theni, and Kottayam, with the shoot expected to wrap up within 70 days. In addition to Varavu, Joju George is preparing for upcoming projects in Malayalam cinema and will soon announce his Tamil and Bollywood ventures. Joju started his career in the entertainment industry as an assistant director and later appeared in supporting roles. His career took off after his debut in the 2003 film Pattallam, directed by Lal Jose, which earned him well deserved recognition. Now, as Pani became his first film as a director, let’s explore more about Joju George and his journey. After making several cameo appearances, Joju rose to fame after he played the lead role in Pattalam. Later, he featured in several successful films like Vasthavam Trivandrum Lodge and Udaharanam Sujatha, which further established his presence in the industry.
