Valley Sports Academy hosting charity dodgeball tournament for nonprofit

LAKE HALLIE, Wis. (WEAU) - Valley Sports Academy is preparing to host its fourth annual charity dodgeball tournament to support Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwestern Wisconsin. The tournament is looking to add two more teams to its bracket. All proceeds from the event will go toward Big Brothers Big Sisters’ community and site-based mentoring programs. Big Brothers Big Sisters CEO Travis Austad said the organization helps youth overcome life’s challenges through mentoring relationships. “Youth mental health is such a huge priority for us,” Austad said. “So, that mentoring relationship really is that ear, that extra ear to listen to, that shoulder to cry on as needed, and just someone to be there to support that child in any way possible.” Valley Sports Academy has donated to other organizations in the past, including Feed My People, the Boys and Girls Club and the Children’s Museum. This year’s dodgeball tournament kicks off at noon Saturday, November 1. For more information, click here.
