Board President Kim Klaus announced the news at the latest board meeting. A reason for his resignation was not shared.
“On behalf of the board and our community, we would like to thank Mr. Peters for his six years of dedicated volunteer service,” Klaus said. “His commitment made a real difference and we deeply appreciate the positive changes he helped bring to Lacey schools.”
New Jersey State Board of Education rules require that a new board member be appointed within 65 days. The position will be posted soon, Klaus said. In the meantime, those interested in filling the empty seat can reach out to Business Administrator and Board Secretary Sharon Ormsbee (sormsbee@laceyschools.org) with questions about the application, interview process and timeline.
The board also reorganized some of their committee roles, effective immediately, due to Peters’ resignation.
