V.I. SCHOOL SPORTS ROUNDUP: Caribs vs. Hawks H.S. tackle football game moved up a day

Caribs vs. Hawks tackle FB game moved up a day There’s going to be “Thursday Night Football” in the U.S. Virgin Islands this weekend — but it’s not NFL teams in action ON Amazon Prime. The V.I. Education Department’s Sports and Athletics Division has moved up by a day the scheduled Territorial Tackle Football League game between St. Croix’s Central High School and St. Thomas’ Charlotte Amalie High School. The Caribs vs. Hawks game, originally scheduled for Friday, will now be played Thursday at the Ivanna Eudora Kean High School stadium on St. Thomas. The start time remains the same, with a 5:30 p.m. kickoff. The second game on the Week 6 schedule — St. Thomas’ Ivanna Eudora Kean High against St. Croix Educational Complex at the Complex stadium — will remain in its original Saturday slot, with game time 3 p.m. According to a text from Alicia Tomeau, director of the Education Department’s Sports and Athletics Development Division, the move was made to avoid having the game on Halloween. “For security measures it was better playing it on Thursday instead of Halloween,” Tomeau’s text read.
