Uzbekistan proposes long-term Strategic Partnership Program with IsDB - Daryo

Uzbekistan has proposed the adoption of a long-term Strategic Partnership Program with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), aimed at doubling the project portfolio and expanding financing for infrastructure, social, and private sector initiatives.

The proposal was announced by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on September 17 during a meeting with IsDB President Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser held as part of the “Road to Prosperity” international forum in Namangan.

At the start of the meeting, Al Jasser congratulated Uzbekistan on the successful organization of the forum and reaffirmed the Bank’s readiness to support the country’s poverty reduction goals.

The two sides discussed ways to further broaden cooperation in support of Uzbekistan’s reform strategy. The partnership has expanded significantly in recent years, with a joint portfolio exceeding $5bn.

Current projects cover key areas including transport, infrastructure, housing, energy, healthcare, and education, with more than 40% of investments directed to the private sector.

Special attention was given to advancing new initiatives such as supporting private business development, establishing modern medical centers in the regions, modernizing highways, and restoring and concreting irrigation canals.

The proposed program is expected to strengthen long-term cooperation between Uzbekistan and the IsDB while accelerating socio-economic development. Follow Daryo’s official Instagram , LinkedIn , and Twitter pages to keep current on world news
