Uzbekistan expands agro-industrial parks as President Mirziyoyev visits Chimyon berry project - Daryo.uz

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the agro-industrial park under construction in the Chimyon neighborhood of Bostanlyk district, observing efforts to combine tourism and agriculture in the region.

Bostanlyk benefits from abundant water and fertile land, making it ideal for fruit cultivation. In Chimyon, raspberries, currants, strawberries, and walnuts are being grown across 3,000 hectares.

The project, valued at over $60mn, includes the establishment of orchards, construction of fruit processing plants, and large-capacity storage facilities. Currently, 50 hectares are dedicated to foreign export-oriented varieties of raspberries and strawberries, all equipped with drip irrigation. Yields reach UZS 400mn ($32,310) per hectare for raspberries and up to UZS 500mn ($40,387) per hectare for strawberries.

President Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of modern processing techniques, from selecting varieties to picking, sorting, and processing fruits.

“This will ensure the quality and marketability of products, and will also play an important role in exports,” the statement noted.

The president also explored other hills and pastures in Bostanlyk, instructing officials to establish similar profitable agro-parks.

“This garden shows love for the land and sincere work. The result, first of all, is income, benefit for our people. These aspects are several times higher than other traditional crops. Therefore, it is necessary to teach more people how to grow such products and increase their income,” he said.
