Uzbekistan has intensified efforts to improve air quality in Tashkent, identifying 281 violations at industrial enterprises, social facilities, and greenhouse farms during the first eight months of 2025.
Under Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 59, twelve territorial working groups involving more than 150 specialists from various ministries and agencies were established. From January to August, the groups recorded 1,452 facilities, conducted 174 night inspections, and issued administrative protocols to 154 individuals.
Lawsuits seeking temporary suspension were filed against 20 facilities, while 179 violations were corrected. Modern equipment, including 11 boilers, 19 filters, and 12 dust-removal units, was installed to reduce emissions.
In line with presidential decree No. 81 of May 31, 2023, “green belts” are being created around large industrial enterprises. In 2025, manufacturers of building materials and other category I–II enterprises are required to plant 200,000 trees and shrubs; 79,490 seedlings were planted during the spring season.
As part of the annual “Clean Air” campaign, 40,050 vehicles were inspected in Tashkent during the first stage from April 10 to May 10. Excess emissions were found in 586 vehicles, and deficiencies were corrected, preventing 4,700 tonnes of pollutants from entering the atmosphere. The second stage of the campaign, running from September 10 to October 10, is currently underway. Authorities say efforts to improve air quality and eliminate harmful emissions in Tashkent are ongoing. Follow Daryo’s official Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter pages to keep current on world news
