The University of the Virgin Islands’ women’s basketball team post its first win of the 2025-2026 season on Monday night, downing Atlantis University 61-38 in Miami, Fla. After getting off to a slow start, the Lady Buccaneers (1-1) broke into the lead in the second quarter and pulled away from there to wrap up their Florida road trip with an official win. St. Croix’s Keshara Romain, a transfer from Washington state’s Pierce College, had her first career double-double for UVI with a game-high 18 points and 13 rebounds. Natalie Williams, a transfer from Kansas’ Neosho County Community College, also had her first double-double with the Lady Bucs, adding 11 points and 14 rebounds. Kashay Bass, one of four UVI returnees, came off the bench to add nine points and 13 rebounds. Naire Lucas led the Atlanteans (0-1) with nine points and a game-high 16 rebounds. UVI returns to St. Thomas for its first home games of the season. The Lady Bucs host Ozark Christian College — a National Christian College Athletic Association program based in St. Joplin, Mo. — today at the Elridge Blake Sports and Fitness Center at 6 p.m., then follow that with an exhibition game against the V.I. Elite on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
