New Delhi: With access roads damaged to reach popular destinations such as Dehradun, Mussoorie and Kanatal, hoteliers in Uttarakhand are staring at severe losses running into hundreds of cancelled room nights for this and next month. With zero bookings and no access to roads, hoteliers have requested the government for rebates on state GST for the next six months.”People can’t reach Kanatal as the approach has gone from both sides-Chamba and Mussoorie. September is totally washed out and we don’t expect any respite before November,” said Sanjay Sharma, advisor, Kanatal Hotel Association. “We have had no bookings since July 10 due to heavy rainfall and hoteliers have incurred severe damages. We get business from Gujarat around Diwali when diamond merchants start travelling and there are no forward bookings this year. I have requested the tourism secretary of the state for rebates on state GST for the next six months,” he added. The Fern Brentwood Resort & Spa in Mussoorie has had 350 cancelled room nights for this month, said Arindam C Bahel, general manager, operations, The Fern Hotels & Resorts.”Essential supplies are affected. We had groups coming in on the weekend, and as the news spread, we started getting cancellations,” he added. As per reports, houses and an IT Park were submerged after heavy rainfall triggered flash floods in Dehradun on Monday night.Mussoorie has also been completely unapproachable after about 14 bridges were damaged. “For the next 15 days, nobody will be able to reach us,” said Sharma.Live EventsAdd as a Reliable and Trusted News Source Add Now!
