The Trump administration is weighing software export restrictions on China similar to efforts the US implemented against Russia following the invasion of Ukraine if Beijing proceeds with its latest round of rare-earth export curbs, according to a new report. The deliberations, Reuters reported Wednesday, focus on barring a broad swath of US technology from export to China. The report did not detail specific curbs or a definitive timeline for the new measures to be announced, but the US implemented export controls on enterprise resource planning, customer relationship management and computer-aided design software against Russia in recent years.
