During his visit to Washington, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met on November 5 with members of the United States House of Representatives — Bill Huizenga, Carol Miller and Sydney Kamlager-Dove — at the residence allocated for him. The meeting was reported by the presidential press service. The sides discussed strengthening the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the United States and expanding practical cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries. It was noted with satisfaction that inter-parliamentary relations have been rapidly developing, and that the Congressional Caucus on Uzbekistan is actively contributing to cooperation. The parties emphasized the importance of Congressional support for implementing agreements reached at the highest level, particularly those aimed at expanding trade, economic, investment, and cultural-humanitarian cooperation. Special attention was paid to developing interregional cooperation and establishing practical collaboration with the states represented by the congress members — West Virginia, Michigan and California. Following the meeting, the parties agreed to organize a visit of US Congressional representatives to Uzbekistan, as well as exchange visits of business delegations led by regional leaders of the two countries. Earlier, it was reported that a group of Uzbek citizens working and studying in the United States welcomed President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Washington.
