The border between the United States and Canada remains open to travel and trade.

The rumours of US-Canada border closure surged after the US federal government shutdown but there was no official closure. Instead, a Canada Border Services Agency system outage delayed trucks at entry points, sparking frustration from the trucking industry. A system failure that caused a bottleneck of commercial trucks at the US-Canada border on September 30 triggered rumours that the border would be shut due to the US government shutdown.
