There are plenty of head coaching jobs open with the season yet to come to an end. Some of the big jobs opened are Florida, Penn State, LSU, Auburn and Arkansas, with more likely to come. Penn State fired James Franklin, Florida fired Billy Napier, Auburn fired Hugh Freeze and LSU moved on from Brian Kelly in a wild turn of events. As such, plenty of rumors have been swirling and will continue to surface over the next couple of months. The Penn State opening is perhaps the biggest one, and a flurry of names have been tossed around as ideas. Among them is Urban Meyer, the former Utah, Florida and Ohio State head coach. Meyer is a current analyst for FOX Sports, and it is not surprising to see his name in the rumors. Recently, a report surfaced from Audacy and SiriusXM radio host Zach Gelb stating that Meyer had “strong interest” in the job, but he was turned down because of NIL answers. However, Meyer himself shut down that report from Gelb. “First of all, that never happened,” Meyer said. “How do we get the two sources on our show here? Just cracks me up.” Now, Gelb has responded to Meyer in a back-and-forth between the two. “Urban Meyer wants me to name my sources? How about we do a charity event @CoachUrbanMeyer instead and hook you up to a lie detector test to see if you still want to deny your previous interest in the Penn State job? I stand by my report!” It’s quite the response from Meyer and from Gelb, who said he had two sources mention the link involving Meyer to Penn State.
