University Hospital Wishaw announced as finalist for Scotland Radiography Team of the Year at Radiography Awards 2025

Radiographers at University Hospital Wishaw have been announced as finalists for the Scotland Radiography Team of the Year at the Radiography Awards 2025. The team’s nomination recognises their collaborative approach, clinical excellence and the positive impact they have on both patients and colleagues. Sara Riddell, deputy radiology service manager, said: "I’m incredibly proud of our radiography team at University Hospital Wishaw . "This nomination is a testament to our dedication, professionalism and the compassionate care we provide every day. "Being recognised at a national level is a huge honour and reflects the strength and spirit of our team." The Radiography Awards are hosted by the Society of Radiographers (SoR), the UK’s professional body and trade union for diagnostic imaging and radiotherapy professionals. The SoR promotes education, research and innovation in imaging and radiotherapy. The organisation is committed to ensuring the patient remains central to radiographic practice and to supporting lifelong learning and career development for radiographers nationwide. Nicola Quinn, A&E superintendent radiographer and industrial relations representative for the Society of Radiographers, added: "It’s fantastic to see our team at University Hospital Wishaw recognised in this way. "Our collaborative working not only strengthens our profession but also ensures we’re reflecting great practice in patient care. "This nomination recognises the teamwork and commitment our radiographers show in providing safe, effective and compassionate care." The team at University Hospital Wishaw has recently benefitted from the installation of a new, state-of-the-art, CT (computed tomography) scanner for trauma injuries, which has significantly enhanced imaging capabilities within the department. The new technology allows for faster imaging, reducing scan times and improving patient experience. The advanced imaging quality also supports more accurate diagnostics and enables clinicians to make timely, informed decisions about patient care. *Don't miss the latest headlines from around Lanarkshire.
