To commemorate National Unity Day and promote the message of a drug-free India, the Ballari Institute of Technology and Management, the Sanjay Gandhi Polytechnic and the Ballari Business College jointly organised a Unity March and Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan in Ballari on Friday. The programme began with the National Unity Pledge, followed by a march that started at Sudha Cross and concluded near the Fire and Emergency Services Office. Students marched along the main streets of the city carrying placards with patriotic slogans and messages promoting a drug-free society. Over 350 students, teachers and staff members participated enthusiastically in the event. Speakers on the occasion emphasised that the youth are the true strength of the nation urging them to play a vital role in building a society free from addiction. Students were also encouraged to spread awareness against substance abuse within their families and communities. The event was successfully organised under the guidance of principals and faculty members of the participating institutions, with active support from NSS units. Physical education directors Ashok and Lakshmi Reddy, faculty members Sneha, Pampan Gowda, Dattatraya and supervisors Basavaraj B. and others were present. The programme concluded with the participants reaffirming their commitment to unity, peace and a drug-free India.
