Union Of European Football Associations Joins ACE Anti-Piracy Group

The will join the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment, the MPA-led global anti-piracy coalition. UEFA will be the first exclusive sports-rights holder to join ACE, reflecting the concerns over streaming piracy of live events. UEFA will play a role in ACE’s Live Tier, which focuses on sports piracy. The Live Tier includes real-time intelligence and technology to address piracy immediately, via relationships with law enforcement entities. ACE members include more than 50 major entertainment companies and studios. The coalition estimates that sports piracy costs more than $28 billion annually, with illegal streaming spiking during live events like the World Cup. Guy-Laurent Epstein, executive director of marketing at UEFA, said in a statement that this “partnership allows us to expand our enforcement capabilities, deepen our existing collaboration with industry leaders and leverage ACE’s proven capabilities to disrupt illegal services.”
