Union Ministers Mansukh Mandaviya and Arjun Ram Meghwal are on a two-day visit to Puducherry to attend key meetings of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Puducherry unit.
Mr. Mandaviya, the election-in charge and Mr. Meghwal, the co-in charge for the 2026 Assembly poll, upon their arrival in Puducherry attended the ‘Chintan Bhaitak’ of the party on Monday. The brainstorming session, which commenced at a hotel around 9. 30 a.m., continued till late in the evening.
Besides the two Union Ministers, the ‘Bhaitak’ was attended by BJP’s national general secretary (organisation) B. L. Santhosh, party in-charge for Union Territory affairs Nirmal Kumar Surana, Home Minister A. Namassivayam, Puducherry unit president V. P. Ramalingam, legislators and other key functionaries.
On Tuesday, the party would hold its State Council Meeting attended by functionaries, starting from booth-level workers to core-committee members, at the Old Port Complex to discuss organisational and election-related subjects. The Union Ministers will address the workers during the course of the day.
The meeting was considered crucial as the deliberations have begun months ahead of next year’s election which would decide whether the BJP would get a second term in the Union Territory after the party came to power for the first time in alliance with the All India N. R Congress headed by Chief Minister N. Rangasamy in 2021 Assembly election.
