UNESCO Park Development Begins in Samarkand - UzDaily.uz

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The creation of a UNESCO park has begun in Samarkand. The park will be located next to the “Yangi Uzbekistan” Park and will cover an area of five hectares. The project envisions recreating miniature versions of nine legendary gardens established by Amir Timur. Over four thousand ornamental trees and shrubs of 27 species will be planted in the park, including chestnuts, Japanese sophora, oaks, tulip trees, roses, lavender, and local plant varieties. Walking paths and benches will be installed to ensure visitor comfort. The first plantings will be carried out by participants of the youth forum and the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference. This will mark the beginning of a new green tradition in the city, with trees being planted throughout the future park. The UNESCO park will serve not only as a recreational area but also as a center for environmental education. Practical lessons, greening initiatives, and themed events for schoolchildren and students are planned, aimed at fostering ecological awareness and promoting a responsible attitude toward nature.
