Ultra-Rare Scotch Whisky predicted to sell for at least £45k at auction

A final selection of rare Scotch whiskies set to go under the hammer at the Distillers One of One charity auction, has been revealed weeks before the event takes place at Hopetoun House near Edinburgh . The sale, run in collaboration with Sotheby’s, will be held on Friday October 10, 2025, with 15 newly announced lots completing the catalogue. Online bidding is already live on the Sotheby’s website. Since launching in 2021, the Distillers One of One has become the world’s largest charity auction dedicated to Scotch whisky , with every penny of hammer proceeds donated to good causes. To date, £4.3 million has been raised, the majority of which has gone to the Youth Action Fund. Established after the inaugural auction in 2021, the Fund supports disadvantaged young people across Scotland. Up to June this year, 3,362 young people have been engaged through the initiative, with 2,271 employability outcomes delivered. This year’s auction brings together 35 participating companies, including 15 “Associate Donor” brands unveiling their unique contributions. Adelphi Distillery has contributed The Adelphi Archive, a 29-year-old single malt from the long-closed Imperial Distillery. Distilled in April 1996 and matured in a refill bourbon barrel, the whisky is presented in a Glencairn crystal decanter set on a walnut pedestal incorporating an original bolt from Imperial’s barley dresser. With artwork by Nevis Design and print support from Labeltec, the lot has an estimate of £2,000 to £3,000. Arbikie Distilling is offering a cask of Highland Rye, distilled from its own Odyssey barley in November 2018. John Stirling, director of Arbikie Highland Estate Distillery, said: “At Arbikie, we believe great spirits should do good. Donating to One of One allows us to support meaningful change while sharing our story of sustainability, provenance, and innovation.” The cask is valued at £7,000 to £12,000. The Artisanal Spirits Company is presenting Artisan Casks Ancient Alba ‘AON’, a 52-year-old blended grain Scotch, its first release under the Artisan Casks programme. Bottled in a magnum, it comes with a private dining and tasting at The Vaults in Leith. The lot carries an estimate of £3,000 to £6,000. Coachbuilt Spirits, working with RESS Jewellery, has created Coachbuilt FW07, a 50-year-old blended Scotch paired with a sculpture forged from reclaimed metal of the 1979 Williams FW07 Formula One car. It is expected to raise between £5,000 and £9,000. Other highlights include Glen Moray’s 30 year old peated cask finish, offered with an overnight stay and tasting with head of whisky creation Stephen Woodcock, estimated at £3,500 to £7,000. Hunter Laing has bottled a 51-year-old Teaninich at natural cask strength, valued between £3,500 and £6,000. InchDairnie is inviting the winning bidder to select and fill a bespoke KinGlassie single malt cask this December, with an estimate of £5,000 to £10,000. Glenfarclas has contributed a four-and-a-half litre bottle of 58-year-old single malt in a hand-carved oak box by sculptor Stuart Murdoch, estimated between £24,000 and £45,000. Other lots include Lindores Abbey’s private cask experience, the Distillers One of One Whisky Cabinet from Master of Malt, The Glenturret’s Lineage decanter created with Lalique, and Thompson Bros’ four-bottle Mystery Malt series. Tomatin is offering a rare cask selected by its former master distiller Graham Eunson, with a valuation of £10,000 to £20,000. Whisk-E is presenting an Arran bottling from one of the distillery’s earliest casks, while Young Spirits is donating a 31 year old Springbank named Wings Over Kintyre, displayed in a stained glass presentation case. Alongside the donors, the auction is supported by returning programme sponsors Glencairn Crystal, McLaren Presentation, Simpsons Malt and Forsyths. New partners include Hamilton & Inches as auction sponsor, The Luminaire as travel partner, Berry Bros & Rudd as wine partner and Whisky Magazine as media partner.
