Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) has been invited as a guest team as the former footballers at Sports Club Villa, Express and Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) under the umbrella body of VEK come together in merry-making style.

This will be during the VEK Legends football gala slated for Saturday, 27th September 2025 at the Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.

“We invited the guest team from the Uganda Sports Press Association to spice up the contest. Every team will play at least three matches” Farouk Meywa, the chief organizer revealed during a press conference at Plot 2 Fort Road Zone IV, Old Kampala.

All the four teams have been given full sets of jerseys and balls to ensure good preparations.

“It will be a day to celebrate the football history, to reconnect, share memories and inspire the upcoming young football generation” Meywa added.

USPA assistant organizing secretary Francisco Bwambale is keen for the presented opportunity.

“USPA is humbled to be part of this entire arrangement as we celebrate with the legends of the beautiful game in Uganda. It will be a memorable experience” Bwambale remarked.

Some of the VEK super stars from the 1980’s, 1990’s and early 2000’s will be in action.

Players as Jackson Mayanja (KCCA), Edgar Watson (Sports Club Villa), Hassan Figo Mubiru (SC Villa and Express), George Ssimwogerere (Express), Robert Mukiibi (KCCA and Sports Club Villa), Alex Isabirye, Hakim Magumba, Andy Lule, Samuel Kawalya (Express), Steven Bengo (Sports Club Villa) and others will be in action on the day.

“It will be a great day to reflect about the old memories we had and we link up with the old friends that we played with. I thank Hajjia Meywa for thinking about such a brilliant idea that will bring us together” Robert Mukiibi, a former defender reveals.

Besides football, there will be other fun games with surprise artists also expected.

Gates open by 8 am and action will move uninterrupted until late evening.

There will be lots of prizes to the best team and outstanding players.
