Arsenal have made a bright start to the season, keeping in trend with their defensive solidity, the English side sit in a familiar 2nd place in the Premier League after 6 games. Most recently, the Gunners completed a miraculous comeback away to Newcastle thanks to a stoppage time winner from centre-back, Gabriel.
Arteta’s side have also started on the front foot in the Champions League this season, beating Athletic Bilbao 2-0 away at the San Mames in their opening fixture, thanks to two late goals from Martinelli and Trossard. The Gunners will be looking to edge themselves closer to European silverware this season after being knocked out by PSG in the semi-finals of the competition last season, a PSG side who eventually went on to win the tournament.
To the surprise of many, Olympiacos hold a higher European pedigree than their English rivals, having won the 3rd edition of the UEFA Europa Conference League in 2023/24 after defeating Fiorentina 1-0 (after extra-time). Last season, Olympiacos won the Greek Super League ending a very short 2-year drought making them 48-time league champions.
This season, the Greek outfit are unbeaten in all competitions and sit at the top of the Greek Super League on 13 points after 5 games. Most recently, Mendilibar’s side also managed to win thanks to a stoppage time winner, this one from attacker, Chiquinho, who grabbed his 2nd goal of a thrilling game which ended 3-2.

Arsenal vs Olympiacos Injury News
Arteta will go into this matchup without some of his top performers this Wednesday as the Arsenal manager will have to weigh up his selection. The Gunners will be without Gabriel Jesus who is suffering from a knee injury, along with Kai Havertz who has unfortunately suffered the same fate. As well as those two, Arsenal will also be without Noni Madueke due to a knee injury, a real blow as the winger has had a bright start to his Arsenal career. He will be joined on the sidelines by new signing Piero Hincape with Martin Odegaard being a doubt after only recently returning from a shoulder injury.
Olympiacos will go into this game with almost a full squad available, only missing Ukrainian attacker, Roman Yaremchuk who won’t travel with the squad due to a muscle injury he sustained earlier this month.
Arsenal vs Olympiacos Head to Head
The last time these two sides met was in December of 2015, where striker Oliver Giroud grabbed a hattrick in a 3-0 win for Arsenal. Despite the dominance shown by Arsenal in that game, the head-to-head record reads pretty even, with both sides winning 4 games a piece. Arsenal will be heavy favorites in this one but will have to watch out for some Thrylos’ talent in the shape of Daniel Podence, Gelson Martins and Mehdi Taremi.
