Chandigarh and Udaipur are now directly connected by rail for the first time, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagging off the new train service from Udaipur via video conference on Thursday. The bi-weekly train Chandigarh-Udaipur Super-Fast Express will run twice a week, with 24 halts at multiple stations. On Friday morning, the train was welcomed by the Punjab governor and UT administrator Gulab Chand Kataria. The train arrived with 90 per cent of its seats filled with passengers. Kataria said that the direct connection between Chandigarh and Udaipur was possible only with the continuous efforts of Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. When will it run in a week? The Chandigarh-Udaipur Super-Fast Express will run on Thursdays and Sundays every week, making it a bi-weekly train. Udaipur City to Chandigarh (20989): Departs Wednesdays and Saturdays at 4:05 pm and arrives at 9:50 am the next day. (17 hrs) Chandigarh to Udaipur City (20990): Departs on Thursdays and Sundays at 11:20 am and reaches Udaipur at 5:25 am the next morning. The fares of the train will range from Rs 530 to Rs 1960 per passenger. Rs 530: Sleeper classRs 1385: 3rd ACRs 1960: 2nd AC All about Chandigarh-Udaipur Super-Fast Express The Chandigarh-Udaipur Super-Fast Express was flagged off by PM Modi on September 25 via video conference from Banswara. The train service includes 22 coaches, including two Second AC, six Third AC, two Third AC Economy, six Sleeper Class, and four General Class. Moreover, it comes with a power car and a guard coach. The train will halt at 24 stations in Haryana and Rajasthan, including Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Narwana, Jind, Rohtak, Alwar, Jaipur, Kishangarh, Ajmer, Bhilwara, and Chittorgarh, before reaching its final destination. This new direct connection will boost tourism and travel between Udaipur and Chandigarh as Udaipur is known for its lakes and royal history, while Chandigarh has a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Capitol Complex.
