Days after right-wing political conservative activist Charlie Kirk was assassinated in Utah at a college event, his shooter Tyler Robinson allegedly confessed to the slaying in an online chat before he surrendered to police, it has emerged. He is held without bail in a jail in Utah on several charges.However, before the 22-year-old Tyler Robinson was caught, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced a whopping $100,000 reward for any information in connection with the person who shot Charlie Kirk. While the manhunt to arrest Kirk’s shooter was still, several people, including President Donald Trump advisor Alex Bruesewitz, conservative activist Robby Starbuck and billionaire Bill Ackman, offered to increase the amount. As per CNN, the FBI announced a $100,000 reward, Starbucks and billionaire Alex Bruesewitz announced $25,000 each, while billionaire Bill Ackman pledged $1 million. Tyler’s father is officially eligible to get the money as FBI guidelines allow rewards for tips from family members if the information directly aids the investigation, according to a TOI report.However, social media is abuzz with rumours he refused to take the money and offered to donate it to Charlie Kirk’s Foundation. Thus, posts claiming such are outright false. Matt Robinson received appreciation for his brave act to hand his son over to the law enforcement at a time when he could face the death penalty for killing Charlie Kirk. Matt is a registered Republican and a Trump supporter. The family cooperated with the investigation and told cops that Tyler had become more political in recent years and hated Kirk.How did the rumour originate?According to Snopes, the rumor that Matthew Robinson would donate the $1.5 million reward originated from a Facebook account called Cowboys Fan Hub. The post’s caption mentioned the donation, alongside a photo of Kirk and his father paired with a fabricated quote attributed to Robinson.The supposed quote read: “This is what a father is supposed to do. My son wronged the Kirk family, and it’s my responsibility to help him face that mistake. The money is enormous, but it’s not meant for me. What we knowAmid a massive interest in news on Tyler Robinson, this false claim also spread like wildfire. It had thousands of shares at the time of this writing. Despite lingering questions about Robinson’s eligibility for the reward, billionaire Bill Ackman weighed in on X, stating that Robinson is indeed entitled to the bounty. In his post, Ackman wrote, “The rewards need to be paid even if the recipient is a crook or worse. The FBI and other parties who announced rewards have not addressed this issue.”Bill Ackman said: A number of people have reached out and/or posted expressing concern that Tyler Robinson’s father may collect a $1.2m reward for turning in his son, which inspires a few thoughts.””First, in order for rewards to be effective in finding criminals, the rewards need to be paid even if the recipient is a crook or worse,” he added. “That said, in this case, if Tyler’s father is found to have been involved or otherwise acted negligently in contributing to Charlie’s death, civil litigation or criminal prosecution will reverse any unjust compensation.”Add as a Reliable and Trusted News Source Add Now!
