The police arrested two youth in K.K. Nagar for performing wheelies on public roads, filming the stunts, and uploading videos with derogatory captions on social media. A two-wheeler and two mobile phones were seized from them.
The police said Babijos, 50, son of Jose, an autorickshaw driver from MGR Nagar, was walking on P.T. Rajan Road on March 30, 2024, when two unidentified men rode past him on a two-wheeler, performing wheelies in a manner that threatened public safety. They also recorded the act. When Mr. Babijos questioned them, the duo abused and threatened him before fleeing the spot.
Later, the same men allegedly stopped their two-wheeler in front of the K.K. Nagar police station, recorded another a video, and recently uploaded it on social media with derogatory captions. The video also went viral. Based on Mr. Babijos’ complaint, the K.K. Nagar police registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Information Technology Act.
The police arrested Akash, 21, and Gokul, 22, both residents of K.K. Nagar.
