Two-way Trinity standout Andrew Carlson announced on social media his commitment to continue his baseball career at Texas Christian University.
“It just felt like home,” Carlson said in a phone interview. “It was great. I went on my visit a couple weeks ago, I talked to coaches. And I love the place, I love Texas, and I have family in Texas.”
Carlson, a junior who plays for the football and baseball programs at Trinity Classical Academy, is expected to just play baseball with the Horned Frogs and believes that TCU is the place for him to grow as a person and player.
“They showed me what their plan is for my future,” Carlson said. “They were truthful in promising me not too much and not too little and told me that you have to work hard for your playing time.”
Last season, Carlson led the Trinity baseball team in batting average and earned run average en route to the Knights’ fourth straight Heritage League title.
And during the 2025 season, Carlson tossed a perfect game against the Canyon Cowboys when the then-sophomore struck out 10 in the performance.
The one thing that Carlson is looking forward to most outside of school and sports is the food, as he can’t wait to try out the barbecue that Texas has to offer.
“I’m excited for the food, and to get some real barbecue,” he said.
As for those wondering what the TCU commitment means for his football future at Trinity, Carlson says not to worry as he wants to enjoy his final high school seasons giving it everything he got.
“I’m still going to play both sports,” Carlson said. “I’m going to live out the rest of my high school playing time, and it’ll be fun playing football knowing that I’m going to play college baseball.”
