Two farmers suffered serious injuries after they were attacked by a wild bear in Gurukulanagenahalli village in Chickballapur district. They were attacked by a bear while working in an agricultural field on Tuesday morning.
While one of them was attacked on the face, the other suffered injuries on his hand. They were admitted to the government hospital in Chickballapur, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
Forest Department officials said that the patch of farmland where the two were working is surrounded by forests and that it is frequented by bears. “This place is sparsely populated and is close to the forest area. It is common for bears to be sighted in this vicinity,” said an official.
