The Twilight Saga is among the most polarising franchises in existence, centring on three main characters - Bella Swan, an ordinary teenage girl, her vampire boyfriend Edward Cullen, and Bella's family friend and werewolf, Jacob Black. A rivalry ensues between the two groups, with the Cullens subsisting solely on animal blood, while malevolent vampires are hunting Bella. In what becomes a romantic love triangle, audiences were swift to ignite an endless discussion over which of the Hollywood heartthrobs they supported - Team Edward or Team Jacob. This competition continues throughout all five pictures as romances blossom, the rivalry intensifies and their connected lives bring greater peril for everyone involved. It marked the career-defining moment for numerous members of the ensemble cast, featuring Kristen Stewart , Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. Even now, the majority remain most recognised for these parts and the franchise's influence endures. For some, as they opt to take a nostalgic journey at the pictures to watch Twilight, they might acknowledge the film series has its shortcomings. As grown-ups, many confess the storylines and character development don't entirely stand the test of time - with numerous poor critiques regarding the screenplay and conversations. The performers have subsequently spoken out about the films; Robert Pattinson has particularly described elements of the films as "strange" and "nuts". Yet that didn't prevent the final picture from becoming a box office sensation, as it earned $340 million globally during its opening weekend.
