The inaugural Tween Empowerment Summit aims to guide girls through the hard-to-navigate physical and emotional changes of the tween years.
WILMETTE, IL — Navigating the tween years is hard for any young girl, as physical and emotional changes make life confusing.
The one-day inaugural Tween Empowerment Summit upcoming next month in Wilmette is designed to empower tweens and the people who love them through learning, connection and fun.
Presented by Chicago North Shore Moms and Turning Teen, an educational organization that equips families with tools to navigate the tween years, the summit is open to girls ages 8 to 12 and a trusted adult.
Attendees will get to hear from professionals about what it means to grow up through educational workshops and classes. Beyond workshops, girls can also enjoy hands-on activities like body art, journal decorating and gratitude jars.
“At a time when rates of anxiety, low self-esteem, and body image struggles are on the rise in girls, this type of proactive, age-appropriate education is critically needed,” keynote presenter Leslie Randolph said. “The Tween Empowerment Summit offers families a safe, supportive environment to have conversations that build both connection and self-confidence.”
The event will take place on Oct. 18 at Regina Dominican High School and will feature two classes: Body Basics for Girls and Mind over Mood. Tickets to the summit are $125 for both classes, or $100 to attend just one of the classes.
