A tuna product sold in the deli section of select Costo Warehouse stores is being recalled for potential contamination with harmful bacteria, the FDA said.
Western United Fish Company (doing business as Annasea Foods Group) of Kent, Wash., is recalling Kirkland Signature brand Ahi Tuna Wasabi Poke that could be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, according to a news release.
Initiated on Saturday, the recall involves about 3,315 pounds of Ahi Tuna Wasabi Poke with Costco item number of 17193 and sell by date of 9/22/2025. It’s packaged in clear plastic clamshell containers.
The green onions in the product have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The recall comes after the green onion supplier notified the company of a positive test for the bacteria in the green onions used on Sept. 17. The cause of the contamination is being investigated.
Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. It can lead to serious pregnancy complications. Healthy people may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
No illnesses have been reported.
The product was sold on Thursday, Sept. 18 in Alabama, Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin.
