The White House blasted pop star Ariana Grande after she reshared a post over the weekend criticizing those who voted for President Donald Trump.
The pop star reshared a post on her Instagram Story on Sunday night that criticized the Trump administration’s rhetoric on transgender Americans, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids and recent attacks on free speech, according to multiple reports. According to Variety, the post asked Trump voters whether their lives have “gotten better.”
“It’s been 250 days. Now that immigrants have been violently torn from their families and communities have been destroyed, now that trans people have been blamed for virtually everything and live in fear, now that free speech is on the brink of collapse for us all — has your life gotten better?” the post stated.
White House Deputy Press Secretary Kush Desai fired back at Grande’s repost with a statement provided to Entertainment Weekly. The statement mocked Grande’s song titles, including “Save Your Tears,” “Just Like Magic” and “Get Well Soon.”
“Save your tears, Ariana. Because President Trump’s actions ended Joe Biden’s inflation crisis and are bringing in trillions in new investments,” the statement read.
“He even signed an executive order just like magic that paved the way for the FTC to crack down on Ticketmaster for ripping off Ariana Grande’s concert-going fans. Get well soon, Ariana!” the statement added.
Grande supported then-Vice President Kamala Harris for the 2024 election last year. When she hosted “Saturday Night Live” last October, she joked about hopefully electing the first female president.
“The last time I hosted was in 2016 and we were right on the verge of electing our first female president,” she said. “So I guess second time’s the charm, right?”
