Trump vows to help controversial cartoonist get cancer treatment: ‘That will give me a fighting chance’

President Donald Trump told “Dilbert” comic strip creator Scott Adams this week that he was working on getting him faster cancer treatment. “On Monday, I will ask President Trump, via X, to help save my life,” Adams wrote in a post to the platform Sunday. “He offered to help me if I needed it. I need it. As many of you know, I have metastasized prostate cancer.” Adams wrote that his healthcare provider, Kaiser of Northern California, had approved his application to receive a newly FDA-approved drug called Pluvicto. “But they have dropped the ball in scheduling the brief IV to administer it and I can’t seem to fix that,” the post continues. “I am declining fast. I will ask President Trump if he can get Kaiser of Northern California to respond and schedule it for Monday. That will give me a fighting chance to stick around on this planet a little bit longer.” Pluvicto is manufactured by Swiss drugmaker Novartis, which claims the drug reduces the risk of progression or death in patients with prostate cancer by 28%. The drug combines radioactive particles that kill cells with molecules that attach themselves to tumors. “It is not a cure, but it does give good results to many people,” Adams wrote. In a later post, Trump responded, “On it.” Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy joined in, commenting “The President wants to help,” under Adams’ post. It is currently unclear how Trump and his team will be helping Adams receive the treatment. Adams revealed in May that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer during an episode of his YouTube show, “Real Coffee with Scott Adams.” ‘I have the same cancer that Joe Biden has," he said. “But I’ve had it longer than he’s had it. Well, longer than he’s admitted having it. So, my life expectancy is maybe this summer. I expect to be checking out from this domain sometime this summer.” Adams said the cancer had metastasized to his bones and told viewers that he had been using a walker for months due to a tumor near his spine and was in near-constant pain, describing the condition as “intolerable.” “Dilbert” first appeared in 1989, poking fun at office culture. It ran for decades in numerous newspapers but was dropped after publishers denounced comments from Adams as “racist, hateful, and discriminatory” while saying they would no longer provide a platform for his work.
