Trump Slams Kimmel For 'ZERO Talent' After Nexstar Drops Late-Night Show, Says Jimmy Fallon And Seth Meyers Should Be Next

Jimmy Kimmel is under growing fire after Nexstar Media Group announced that it will preempt Jimmy Kimmel Live! across its ABC-affiliated stations. The decision came in response to controversial remarks the late-night host made about the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, which Nexstar said were “offensive and insensitive.” In a statement Wednesday, Nexstar Broadcasting President Andrew Alford said: “Continuing to give Mr. Kimmel a broadcast platform in the communities we serve is simply not in the public interest at the current time, and we have made the difficult decision to preempt his show.” Alternative programming will now replace the late-night slot “for the foreseeable future.” Trump Celebrates Move, Slams Fallon and Meyers The fallout quickly attracted the attention of former US President Donald Trump, who took to Truth Social to celebrate the development. “Great News for America: The ratings challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED. Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done. Kimmel has ZERO talent, and worse ratings than even Colbert, if that’s possible,” Trump wrote. He then shifted focus to other late-night hosts, taking aim at NBC’s Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon and Late Night host Seth Meyers. “That leaves Jimmy and Seth, two total losers, on Fake News NBC. Their ratings are also horrible. Do it NBC!!!” Trump added. Late-Night Landscape Under Scrutiny Neither ABC nor Kimmel has issued a formal statement regarding Nexstar’s move or Trump’s comments. The controversy, however, underscores the increasingly fraught intersection of entertainment, politics and broadcast media. For years, Trump has clashed with late-night hosts, many of whom frequently mocked him during his presidency. With Kimmel’s show now off Nexstar stations and Trump amplifying calls for NBC to follow suit, the debate over political commentary in late-night television appears set to intensify.
