The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds demonstration team performs during the 2025 Joint Base Andrews Air Show at Joint Base Andrews (Sept. 13, 2025). In a major security breach at Joint Base Andrews in Prince George's County, Maryland, a "suspicious package" was delivered following which several people stationed there reported ill. The affected personnel were administered medical treatment at the base, which comes under the jurisdiction of the United States Air Force 316th Wing, Air Force District of Washington. The base is frequently used by US Presidents and the incumbent Donald Trump had been at the facility on several occasions.CNN reported quoting a statement by Joint Base Andrews that a building, housing the Air National Guard Readiness Center, was evacuated after the suspicious package was opened by an individual there. “Joint Base Andrews first responders were dispatched to the scene, determined there were no immediate threats, and have turned the scene over to Office of Special Investigations. What was in the suspicious package delivered to Joint Base Andrews?While the content of the package has not been identified, it probably contained an unknown white powder and political propaganda, CNN added. Reuters reported quoting CNN that an initial field test on the content found inside the package was conducted by the HAZMAT (hazardous materials) team. However, the test report did not detect anything hazardous. CNN further reported the investigation remains ongoing.
