Surprise, surprise, President Donald Trump has more to say about Zohran Mamdani. The assemblyman won the Democratic nomination for New York mayor back in June, beating former Governor Andrew Cuomo for the party line. Now, on the eve of the election, Mamdani is poised to once again beat Cuomo (who is running as an independent), as well as Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa, for the top job in the city. Trump was less than thrilled about the initial Mamdani win, calling him a "100% Communist Lunatic" and writing on Truth Social, "He looks TERRIBLE, his voice is grating, he's not very smart." BuzzFeed TrendingHot Topic Let's chat about all things Politics See our Politics Discussions Well, Trump recently sat down with Norah O’Donnell for an interview on 60 Minutes, which wound up being heavily edited (the initial interview was 90 minutes, and only 28 of those were broadcast). In it, O'Donnell began to ask a question about the "democratic socialist" 34-year-old, seemingly pronouncing his last name as "Mandami." "Communist, not socialist," Trump interrupted. "He's far worse than a socialist." O'Donnell then asked what Trump thought of observations that Mamdani was a "left-wing version of [Trump] — charismatic, breaking the old rules." Trump then responded, "Well, I think I'm a much better-looking person than him. Right?" As for what will happen if Mamdani does win, Trump said, "It's going to be hard for me as the president to give a lot of money to New York. Because if you have a communist running New York, all you're doing is wasting the money you're sending there. I don't know that he's won. And I'm not a fan of Cuomo one way or the other, but if it's going to be between a bad Democrat and a communist, I'm going to pick the bad Democrat all the time." The Mamdani campaign quickly mocked Trump's comments on Cuomo, chalking them up as tantamount to an endorsement: As for a response to the "better-looking" comment, in a new video Mamdani laughed and said, "My focus is on the cost of living crisis, brother."
