Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny was chosen as the halftime show performer for Super Bowl LX last month. President Donald Trump was asked about that decision Monday night and made it clear that he is not happy.
Trump addressed Bad Bunny’s selection during an interview with NEWSMAX.
“I never heard of him. I don’t know who he is. I don’t know why they’re doing it,” Donald Trump said. “It’s like, crazy. And then they blame it on some promoter that they hired to pick up entertainment. I think it’s absolutely ridiculous.”
Super Bowl LX will be held Feb. 8, 2026 in Santa Clara, Calif., the home of the San Francisco 49ers.
In addition to being unhappy about the Super Bowl halftime show performer, Trump is also upset with a recent NFL rule change involving kickoffs.
Beginning this season, a touchback gives the offense the ball at the 35-yard line. Because of that, teams kicking off are trying to avoid surrendering a touchback.
In addition, starting in 2024 and continuing in 2025, kickoff teams, other than the kicker, line up at the opponent‘s 40-yard line, while the receiving team, other than the two returners, line up at their own 35.
The players lined up at the 40 and 35 are not allowed to move until the ball is touched by the returner.
Trump hates that aspect of the league.
“And while we’re at, it I’d like them to change the kickoff rule, which looks ridiculous,” Trump said during the same interview with NEWSMAX. “The ball is kicked and the ball is floating in the air and everyone’s standing there watching it. It’s ridiculous. It’s not any safer than the regular kickoff. It just looks so terrible.”
Donald Trump is an outgoing sports fan who isn’t afraid to speak his mind. He clearly is not pleased with the way the NFL is being played at the moment and would like to see some changes. He also isn’t a fan of this year’s Super Bowl halftime performer.
