The Trump administration will cancel student debt for millions of borrowers under programs it blocked at one point. The legal director for Protect Borrowers, a nonprofit that , said the deal was a tremendous win. “The U.S. Department of Education has agreed to follow the law and deliver Congressionally mandated affordable payments and debt relief to hard-working public service workers across the country,” Winston Berkman-Breen said, . Earlier this year, Trump halted student loan forgiveness programs after he was sued by the American Federation of Teachers. The union accused Trump of blocking federal student loan holders from their programs.
