Trixie Mattel and Katya Zamolodchikova have fired back after RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Violet Chachki called the pair ‘so weird’ for reaching out for help with a recap of her winning season via an assistant.
The library is officially open, ladies.
As you’ll probably know if you opened this article, All Stars 3 winner Trixie Mattel and All Stars 2 fan favourite Katya Zamolodchikova are currently midway through a recap of their first appearance in the RuPaul’s Drag Race Werk Room on season seven of the show, for their podcast The Bald and the Beautiful.
As part of the ru-watch, the pair have garnered voicenotes from former cast members of the 2015 season, as well as from judges like Michelle Visage and even challenge producers.
And while some queens like Pearl and Jasmine Masters have happily provided some extra context, Violet Chachki – the winner of the season – declined ever so fiercely, branding the pair “so weird” on her podcast No Gorge.
“Who do you think you are?” she asked co-host Gottmik of Trixie and Katya on a June episode of the pair’s podcast.
“Did you hear what she said on her pod, about us asking her for a voicenote?” Trixie asked Katya. “‘Who do you think you are?’ Don’t you think that was a little crazy?”
Katya agreed, saying: “Girl, shut the f**k up. Shut the f**k up! You don’t call me back. You don’t call me back, hoe!”
Violet’s issue with the pair getting in touch seems to be that they did so via an assistant, to which Trixie then clarified: “An assistant reached out, if I wanted to get to you, I might talk to Gottmik!”
After the Gottmik stray, Katya continued: “Also, sorry! Girl, check the stats! [Trixie] would never brag about her position, but it’s true!”
Trixie added: “Sorry for including you [Violet],” to which Katya replied: “Did anybody else make a passive aggressive public statement about being contacted not by us?”
“Violet, I love you, but what the f**k girl, whatever,” Trixie said.
Katya then pointed out that most other season seven stars happily sent the pair a voice note to shed new light, saying: “They gave us wonderful, long, usable clips.”
“We had to exhume Max, and she sent us a voicenote,” Trixie joked. “Pearl sent us one from an RV on the edge of a mountain. I just was kind of like, damn b*tch, wow.”
“Stay mad, Brenda,” Katya added. “Still love her.”
When addressing the situation in late June on her podcast, Violet told season thirteen and All Stars 9 queen Gottmik: “It was like, ‘What the f*ck?’ You guys, call me. You have my f*cking phone.
“Having your assistant reach out when you’re friends with somebody is so like… ‘who do you think you are, girl?’ Text me!”
Violet added: “I would never have my assistant or producer reach out to someone I consider a friend. It’s so weird.”
Trixie and Katya, despite the Violet situation, have not been afraid to spill some extra behind-the-scenes tea from season seven, including a “hysterical” line from Katya that no-one laughed at, and a “bizarre” segment that never made it to air.
For anyone already suffering withdrawals after All Stars 10 crowned a winner, never fear; Drag Race UK vs. the World‘s third season is on the way, the cast for Drag Race UK season seven just dropped and Drag Race Philippines: Slaysian Royale has begun.
And the All Stars 11 cast is already kicking about…
