Triple H Names Current WWE Superstar He'd Love to Wrestle if He Ever Returned

The WWE landscape has changed in recent times. The business, once dominated by the likes of The Undertaker, Triple H, and The Rock, is now being navigated by next-gen Superstars such as Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and… John Cena? Well, the Doctor of Thuganomics is an outlier in a rather unforgiving industry.
The recent crop of wrestlers has made WWE an exciting spectacle once again. With talents such as Cody Rhodes, Drew McIntyre, Rhea Ripley and Bron Breakker, the business is booming once again. It has also received a great boost from the return of Cena as well as the charming presence of veterans such as CM Punk and Randy Orton.
Triple H, the Chief Content Officer and a former wrestling superstar himself, has captained this ship well. The Game was a giant in the sport and was a major draw back in the day. Over the course of his career, he delivered unforgettable battles against icons such as Batista, John Cena, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Goldberg, and Shawn Michaels, among others.
The Game retired from in-ring competition in 2022 due to heart issues and has made peace with his wrestling career. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame for the second time in 2025, having previously entered as part of D-Generation X. Under his tutelage, the current batch of WWE Superstars have taken over the sport with great responsibility.
At the forefront of it all is 40-year-old Roman Reigns, who is steadily building a compelling case to be remembered as one of the greatest performers in the history of the sport. Even Triple H is a huge fan of the Florida native.
In a recent interview with Joe Buck on Good Morning America, WWE’s Chief Content Officer was asked a fantasy question: if he could return to the ring at his physical peak and face any current Superstar, who would it be? Without hesitation, Triple H named Roman Reigns.
Triple H’s Dream Current WWE Opponent Revealed
“If I got back in at this point I’d be wrestling Father Time is what I’d be doing,” The Game joked. “Nobody, mostly me, wants to see me back in the ring. But if I could go back in time and do what I did at my peak, it would be Roman Reigns.”
It’s a pick that makes perfect sense. Roman Reigns has become the face of WWE in recent years, dominating the company as The Tribal Chief. With multiple world championships and a record-breaking run as Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, Reigns has evolved into a generational talent.
Triple H didn’t hold back in his praise, calling Reigns “a great guy, incredible talent, incredible performer,” and noting that he’s now branching out into Hollywood, a path Triple H himself knows well through his own media ventures.
“He’s a great guy, incredible talent, performer, out making movies rn, still a WWE Superstar, he’s gonna be massive,” Triple H told Buck.
The two men share a rich history. Their most notable clash came at WrestleMania 32 in 2016, where Reigns defeated Triple H in the main event to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. That match marked a symbolic passing of the torch, as Reigns stepped into the spotlight while Triple H began transitioning into his executive role.
Reigns is a four-time WWE Champion and two-time Universal Champion, making him the longest-reigning world champion of the last three decades. He’s also held the Intercontinental, United States, and Tag Team Championships, earning both the Triple Crown and Grand Slam honours.
