Triniboi Joocie returns home for Tobago Carnival

LONDON, ENGLAND—UK-based soca artiste, pannist and educator Triniboi Joocie (Rodell Sorzano) returned home last week to perform at Tobago Carnival while giving back his time and expertise to the next generation of Trinbagonian creatives. From last Wednesday to today in Tobago, Joocie was scheduled to meet with students and community groups, sharing his journey from playing pan in Arima to becoming a Notting Hill Carnival ambassador, The Voice UK semi-finalist, and celebrated soca artiste in Europe. The artiste also carried out the same exercise from October 19 to 21. “This visit is deeply personal,” Joocie said about the upcoming tour. “Everything I have achieved abroad started here in Trinidad and Tobago. I want young people to see that their culture, discipline and creativity can carry them anywhere in the world.” In Tobago, his sessions were scheduled for secondary schools and with youth-based organisations, focusing on music, marketing and cultural pride. Joocie is also looking forward to sharing new music. He recently released the groovy crossover single, “Investment”, produced by Veeny Beatz, in time for Tobago Carnival; and also features on the Wetty Beatz-produced Universe 1 Riddim with “Sick”. Both releases showcase his continued growth as a versatile voice bridging Caribbean and international audiences. Beyond his performances, Joocie’s visit has included creative collaborations with artistes and producers, appearances with popular social media influencers, and meetings with the British High Commission in T&T to explore upcoming cultural projects linking both countries. Triniboi Joocie’s career highlights include performing Lord Kitchener’s “Pan in A Minor” with a 100-piece steelband at Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebration in 2022; creating and headlining his own Joocie Thursday concert at Notting Hill Carnival; and competing in The Voice UK, where he advanced to the semifinals with his original soca hits like “Obeyah” and “Bottle Over Head”, the latter amassing over three million views on YouTube. His international resume also continues to expand. In June 2025, Joocie performed at SXSW London, and later that month he represented Trinidad and Tobago at the inaugural Unity Cup in London—a four-nation football and cultural festival featuring T&T, Jamaica, Ghana and Nigeria. In October 2024, he collaborated with Zimbabwean star Nutty O (Carrington Chiwadzwa) on the Afro-soca fusion single, “Substance”. He continued: “As an educator, I feel a responsibility to share all I’ve learnt on my journey. Culture gave me my foundation, and education gave me the tools. Giving back to T&T’s youth is my way of ensuring the next generation has both.” • For updates, follow @triniboijoocie across all social media platforms. For bookings, e-mail bookjoocie@gmail.com.
