TriMet is getting ready for a seven-day MAX project on the east side of the Willamette River starting Sunday, Oct. 12. Riders on several lines will need to use shuttle buses to reach their destinations.
On Sunday, MAX Blue, Green and Red lines will not serve stations between the Rose Quarter and Gateway. Riders will be directed to shuttle buses which will stop at all stations between those two. Green Line trains will not cross the Steel Bridge.
During Sunday’s closure, crews will shut off power to the station at Northeast 82nd Avenue and remove construction scaffolding used during renovation work.
TriMet will then shut down MAX Red Line service Monday-Saturday, Oct. 13-18 from Gateway to the Portland International Airport. Shuttle buses will serve all closed stations between Gateway and the airport with buses arriving every 15 minutes.
Riders should factor in at least 30 additional minutes for travel to and from the airport during the closure.
During the closure, crews will replace 100 feet of curved rail at the Gateway Transit Center and repair rail and install new ties along the route. Stations between Gateway and PDX will also get a deep clean during the week.
Check trimet.org/alerts or use the TriMet Trip Planner before you head out to see how trips may be affected. For more details on the projects visit: trimet.org/alerts/2025/eastsidemax.
Reminder: Broadway Bridge closes for 6 months beginning Oct. 13
Broadway Bridge vehicle users will need to choose an alternate river crossing beginning Monday, Oct. 13 as Multnomah County begins a large project to replace the bridge’s travel surface that will continue into April of next year.
The bridge will be closed to all cars, trucks, buses and the Portland Streetcar for as long as six months. For most of the closure, the south sidewalk will remain open for use by cyclists, pedestrians, and those using mobility devices.
Drivers have the choice of the Fremont, Steel, Burnside, and Morisson bridges as alternatives.
